Ceiling Fan Upgrades For Your Home or Business

In a Coffs Coast summer a good ceiling fan does a lot of the work an air-conditioner gets the credit for,and it costs a fraction to run. We install and replace ceiling fans right across Coffs Harbour and the Mid North Coast: swapping a tired old fan for a new one, putting a fan where there’s only a light fitting now, wiring a brand-new point, or sorting a fan that’s stopped working.
It’s licensed electrical work, and getting it wired and balanced properly is the difference between years of quiet cooling and an annoying wobble or hum.

We can supply, mount and wire your new fans in and make sure it’s safe and balanced. Replacing an existing fan is usually straightforward; adding a fan where there’s no wiring, does mean having to run a new cable and switch.

Ceiling Fan Installation And Replacement

Most jobs fall into one of three scenarios:

  • Replacing an old fan: Like-for-like swaps are the quickest, as the wiring and mounting are already there.
  • A fan where there’s only a light: We can often convert a light point to a fan-and-light, sometimes with a second switch so you control them separately.
  • A new fan point: No existing wiring, so we run a new cable from the circuit and add the switch or remote.

We’ll talk you through fan size for the room, blade span, and whether a DC motor (quieter, lower running cost) suits you before anything goes up.

We’ll work with you to design a layout that suits how you actually use your home, not just what’s easiest to wire. All powerpoints are installed to meet AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules and include new circuit protection where required.

Outdoor And Alfresco Fans

Patios, alfresco areas and verandahs need an outdoor-rated fan — not an indoor one moved outside. On the coast, salt air corrodes the wrong gear fast, so we fit IP-rated fans built for damp and weather. Great for taking the edge off humid Coffs evenings out the back.

Ceiling Fan Repairs

If a fan has started wobbling, humming, running slow or has stopped altogether, we can look at it before you write it off. Sometimes it’s the capacitor or the switch, not the whole fan. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth repairing or whether a replacement is the better spend.

Why It’s Licensed Work

Mounting a fan means working in your ceiling on live wiring and making sure the fixing will hold a moving load for years.
In Australia, this is licensed electrical work.
We will ensure the work is done properly, so the fan is well secured and balanced. There is nothing worse than a noisy ceiling fan when trying to sleep at night.

Ceiling Fan FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our services, safety standards, and what to expect when working with our team.

Usually, yes. We can convert an existing light point to a ceiling fan, or a fan-with-light combo. Depending on your switches we can wire it so the fan and light work independently. If the ceiling or wiring won’t allow it, we’ll tell you what’s involved to make it work — it’s a common request and most rooms can take one.

Yes, with the right mount. Sloped, raked and cathedral ceilings need a special downrod or angled bracket so the fan hangs level and spins true. We bring the right fixings and check the blade clearance so it’s safe and balanced.

They need outdoor-rated, IP-rated fans and weatherproof wiring. Salt air on the Mid North Coast corrodes indoor fittings quickly, so we use gear built for the conditions. The wiring itself is similar to an indoor install, but the fan and any outdoor switch have to be weather-rated.

A straight replacement is often under an hour. Adding a fan where there’s only a light takes a bit longer, and a brand-new fan point — running fresh cable and a switch — is the longest, especially if access to the ceiling is tight. We’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.

We can only install ceiling fans that have been purchased from an electrical wholesaler or lighting store and it comes with a receipt. This is so we can sign off our work and stand behind the installation work we do
